Marlborough, MA (work 3 days onsite)
Hybrid Schedule:
At Helen of Troy, we embrace a flexible hybrid work model designed to support collaboration and productivity. What you will be doing:
This is a global position supporting all regions and brands of the organization. The Design + Innovation team (ID) plays a key role in strategic pipeline definition, consumer insight research and creative direction, management and execution of all durable consumer product launch initiatives.
A key function of this position involves partnering with/assisting Design Managers as they work with Brand Managers and Engineering Program Managers across the global and regional marketing organizations of the company. The cross-functional teams plan and execute programs within a multi-year product roadmap. The Associate Design Manager serves as champion of design quality and consistency acting as consultant to the cross-functional teams.
Work with the team on the undefined front end to frame projects scope
Analyze design work and direct/redirect based on design goals
Define what potential products could be before they exist for the purpose of consumer testing
Design/run consumer use tests to tune design and user interface (UI) to optimize user experience and consumer delight
Participate in and translate consumer/ethnographic insights into design opportunities
Generate ID presentations following strong rationale for internal reviews
Generate ID briefs communicating project vision and design intent to company and agencies
Manage project schedules
Manage design control documentation including color/material specifications
Cover for design managers during travel and holidays
Skills needed to be successful in this role:
Ability to align design solutions with strategic business/marketing objectives
Ability to analyze design, spot opportunities, and redirect where necessary
Strong problem-solving skills, program constraints and requirements can be complex and require innovative solutions
Strong communication (writing, speaking and presentation skills)-ability to assertively sell ideas based on solid rationale and objectives
Some understanding of manufacturing, materials & processes
Strong visualization and sketching skills
Strong awareness of global design trends
Organizational skills (able to set a plan to reach final deliverables)
Presentation skills (Knowledge of Microsoft PowerPoint)
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from an accredited four-year college or university Industrial Design
2+ years or more of work experience as a designer in a corporate or consulting environment
Authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis
Preferred Qualifications:
2D skills: Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop
3D CAD skills: Solidworks or equivalent
In Massachusetts, the standard base pay range for this role is $82,170.17 - $123,255.25 annually. This base pay range is specific to Massachusetts and may not be applicable to other locations. Actual salaries will vary based on several factors, including but not limited to location, experience, skill level, and performance. The range listed is just one component of the total compensation package for employees.
