KC Film Office Fellow (Limited-term Contract)

Limited-term contract position available with the Mayor's Office, KC Film Office located at 414 E. 12th St. *Limited term contract is one year with the potential to renew.
Salary Range: $3,500/month
Normal Work Days/Hours: Varies, positions work 25-30 hours per week

Responsibilities
- Assist as a local liaison with international, national, and regional production companies to provide pre-production & logistical support.
- Coordinate meetings between Film Office and productions.
- Maintain and grow the Locations Database.
- Coordinate with property owners listed in the Locations Database.
- Identify new location opportunities and take photos.
- Maintain the professional resources in the Crew & Services Database.
- Build relationships with local industry and area resources to keep crew listings and resources updated.
- Research and develop new resources and guides for productions filming in Kansas City.
- Work with the City and surrounding municipalities for permitting, city services, and support.
Marketing & Communications
- Develop and distribute newsletters to promote local film initiatives and events.
- Manage social media accounts, creating content that highlights Kansas City's film industry and attractions.
- Design marketing collateral such as brochures, flyers, and promotional materials.
- Write and publish blog posts showcasing local film projects, industry news, and community stories.
- Attend industry events and networking opportunities to promote Kansas City as a film destination.
- Maintain and update the film office website and content.
Industry Support
- Support projects for local film and media festivals and events.
- Assist the Film Commissioner with special projects and programs developed with local organizations.
- Generate reports, promotional materials, and economic data related to KC Film and the industry.
- Identify KC area film events and screenings.
- Lead on-site management of KC Film Office events.
Qualifications
PREFERRED SKILLS:
- Passionate about Kansas City.
- Knowledge of the film industry and production processes, including technical, organizational, and financial aspects (a plus).
- Strong attention to detail, initiative, and work ethic.
- Motivated and able to work independently.
- Knowledge of location scouting and familiarity with Kansas City assets (a plus).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Ability to meet deadlines.
- Flexibility to adapt to changing requirements.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, PowerPoint, Photoshop, Canva, and industry-related software.
- Photography and graphic design experience (a plus).
Education And Experience
- Bachelor's degree or equivalent in film, multimedia, communications, marketing, or related field (preferred).
- Two to three years of experience (preferred).
- Open to graduate students, recent graduates, and those seeking freelance or part-time opportunities.
