General Position Summary

KCLS is seeking a Web Strategist to develop and execute digital solutions that align and advance organizational goals through the KCLS website. In this position, you will analyze page performance, maintain content updates, ensure best practices, and support Search Engine Optimization (SEO) initiatives to enhance patron service and optimize user experience.
In this position, you will have the opportunity to:
- Lead and implement the strategy for homepage and website layout to ensure alignment with marketing team goals
- Partner with library staff to create compelling site experiences for KCLS campaigns and initiatives
- Analyze and monitor page performance, accessibility, and user behavior to inform web content strategy and design
- Collaborate closely within the Marketing team (email, social media, videographer/photographer, web)and cross-functionally with Communications team and ITS to prioritize efforts
This is an ideal opportunity for a candidate who is experienced in the non-profit, government or library sectors, an excellent communicator, comfortable creating content, highly organized and has strong attention to detail.

- Partners with internal work teams and departments to create site experiences for KCLS campaigns and initiatives, including identification of resources needed and delivery of accurate messaging and timing.
- Analyzes and monitors page performance, accessibility, and user behavior across site landing pages. Generates data-driven hypotheses that inform strategies and areas of opportunity to improve the customer experience and reduce barriers to access.
- Establishes a deep understanding of KCLS site followers and visitors through data, evaluation, and stakeholder engagement and uses those insights to inform site strategy.
- Maintains a list of content owners for established KCLS web pages, ensuring content is updated on a regularly scheduled timeline.
- Leads overall strategy for homepage and website layout, ensuring alignment with the marketing team editorial calendar and goals.
- Collaborates with marketing team partners on SEO initiatives and content opportunities that improve website visibility and performance.
- Develops, maintains, and ensures standardized best practices based on data analytics, UX and accessibility guidelines and regulations.
- Works with ITS to ensure that new and updated third-party software and business applications integrate with the website.
- Collaborates with website vendors and internal and external web developers to create and manage new website services and features.
Secondary Duties
- Provides electronic newsletter backup, as needed.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
- Maintains professional knowledge and skills to provide relevant subject matter expertise.
Desired Minimum Qualification
Education and Experience
The items listed below are the minimum requirements for the job and are relevant to this position. The organization values both work experience and education and realizes that individuals take different paths to acquire knowledge.
- Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or interactive media.
- Five years’ experience using a web content management system and administrative interface.
- Experience with computer systems, customer service, and support of large web service applications and/or multilingual website preferred.
- Any equivalent combination of education and experience that provides the necessary qualifications to successfully perform the duties of the position will be considered.
Knowledge and Skills
- Working knowledge in the business of libraries.
- Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and the interaction between site architecture and content.
- Working knowledge of web tools, A/B testing, card sorting, tree testing, site analytics, and other business intelligence tools.
- Working knowledge of Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) and accessibility criteria, checkers and tools.
- Advanced project management and problem-solving skills applied to multiple projects simultaneously from strategy to execution.
- Effectively use data and insights to inform requirements, ideas, and strategies.
- Nimbleness and flexibility in a fast-paced and dynamic work environment.
- Well-developed verbal, active listening, and written communication skills with various and diverse audiences.
- Confident communicator and presenter with interest in teaching others.
- Demonstrated collaboration with cross-functional teams and stakeholders.

Physical Demands & Work Environment
Work is performed in a typical office environment. Work schedule may include occasional evening and/or weekend meetings or commitments. Some travel within the service area is required. Incumbent may be permitted hybrid telework schedule upon request.
