- Duration: This is a temporary promotion not to exceed 90 days or a temporary detail with the possibility of extension(s) not to exceed one year.
The Foreign Affairs, Defense, and Trade Division has an opportunity for a qualified Library of Congress employee to serve as the Acting Section Head for its Research and Library Services Section (FDT/RL) beginning on or around March 23, 2025. More than one person may be selected to serve on a rotating basis. Library of Congress staff with a performance rating of at least fully successful in their current position are eligible to apply. Specialized experience is required; however, time-in-grade at the GS-14 level is not necessary.
Tour of Duty: Full-time, eligible for a flexible work schedule and telework. This position is not eligible for a compflex schedule.
The primary responsibility of the Acting Section Head is to manage a group of research librarians performing information research in response to congressional and internal requests. Responsibilities include aligning the section's resources to ensure ongoing coverage of all issues in the section; reviewing products and services of the section to meet professional standards and policy guidelines and respond to the needs of Congress; and managing the administrative functions for staff supervised.
