Utah Business seeks a detail-oriented assistant editor to help write, assign and edit stories for our print and digital publications. UB editors are active members of the business community and are expected to meet and engage with executives, entrepreneurs, contributors and investors on a regular basis - as well as keep a pulse on developing business stories. The assistant editor will be a part of Utah Business' editorial team and be responsible for actively pursuing stories, engaging with the community and representing Utah Business at events when necessary. We are looking for someone who can self-motivate, be creative and go above and beyond to make this position even more amazing than we think it can be! This position will work a hybrid schedule in our downtown Salt Lake City offices. Candidates must reside in Utah and live within commuting distance. Job requirements •Write 3-5 stories per month •Edit 20 or more stories per month •Review and provide visual edits on monthly print magazine •Pitch and assign writing projects to freelance writers •Manage the editorial team's press release email inbox •Publish 4-6 articles to UtahBusiness.com per day •Host roundtables and other speaking events •Attend business events, network with influential business leaders and keep a pulse on Utah's business community •Assist other departments with content edits as needed Qualifications •2-4 years experience in magazine writing and editing, or journalism •Bachelor's degree in editing, journalism, English, communications or a related field •Familiarity with AP style •Experience with publishing online content via a CMS •Familiarity with basic business concepts or experience writing on a business beat preferred Our team You will join an energetic group of colleagues who aspire to innovate and improve business journalism.
