The Black & Veatch (BV) Water Design-Build group is seeking a Director of Business Development to expand its water and wastewater market presence in the Western US, with a focus on the Northern and Southern California markets.
The Director will be responsible for project development from prospect identification, pre-positioning, proposal strategy, and supporting contract negotiations and project kickoff. Maintaining and strengthening positive client relationships throughout the project life is critical. This role will be designated in our business traveler work schedule, which includes BV professionals who travel consistently 60% or more of their work schedule. Days during travel weeks that are non-travel days, professionals may work in the office or at a remote location. On non-travel work weeks, professionals may work in a BV office location 3 days a week and in a remote location 2 days a week. Key Responsibilities
Contribute to overall growth strategy, business model advancement, and execution. Support the full project development lifecycle including marketing, project identification, strategy development, proposal development, and customer relationship management. Responsible for business development including leading team efforts for marketing, strategy development, and client presentations. Shape and sponsor the development of BV Professionals, including workforce planning and training. Coordinate with other sales teams within the company to develop coordinated sales strategies. Develop relationships in the market and expand the recognition of Company Brand. Ability to lead sales teams. Management Responsibilities
Work closely with execution teams to ensure all sales can be executed profitably. Travel to engage with potential and current clients, up to 80% of the time. Develop and maintain the sales funnel/pipeline for forecasting and tracking. Participate in continuous improvement of customer service, quality, safety, and financial performance. Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. All applicants must be able to complete pre-employment onboarding requirements. Preferred Qualifications
15+ years of leadership in EPC/DB environment, experience in sales of construction projects. Experience managing multiple Design-Build engagements in the Water sector. Strong utility industry relationships in the Western US. Work Environment/Physical Demands
