Job Summary:
The Drafting and Design Discipline Manager is responsible for managing key client natural gas projects, engaging with existing clients to grow the project base, and attracting new clients. The manager acts as the primary internal and external contact for natural gas projects and program work of various sizes. Responsibilities include ensuring projects are completed on time, within budget, scope, and meet quality and technical standards.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities:
Coordinate with project managers on resource allocation to ensure timely completion of design tasks.
Lead and manage a team of drafters/designers.
Implement and maintain organization-wide CAD standards and best practices.
Hold weekly workload coordination meetings.
Manage workload and utilization of team members.
Identify training needs and organize regular training to enhance team skills.
Stay updated with CAD software advancements and recommend upgrades or new tools.
Oversee drafting from concept to completion, ensuring adherence to specifications.
Collaborate with technical leads to guide drafting/design staff on projects.
Conduct career development discussions with staff.
Evaluate team members based on performance metrics.
Coordinate with Tech Solutions to address CAD deliverables and technology issues.
Display strong soft skills including communication, interpersonal skills, organization, conflict resolution, and leadership.
Assign budgeted hours to drafting/design tasks.
Assist in developing project estimates (hours & costs) for proposals.
Maintain solutions-driven communication.
Lead training initiatives within the organization.
Develop and apply leadership skills continually.
Attend conferences and training to stay proficient.
Innovate and drive change, quality, and efficiency.
Leverage relationships to recruit top talent, attract new clients, and find innovative solutions.
Demonstrate an entrepreneurial mindset, drive, and creativity.
Meet or exceed KPIs for the role.
Build expertise and experience as a champion within the team.
Qualifications: Education & Experience:
Bachelor’s Degree (BA/BS) in Engineering or a related field.
Required Skills:
Strong technical knowledge of Natural Gas Design and related codes.
Consulting experience and knowledge of consulting practices and KPIs.
Entrepreneurial mindset, driven to succeed, innovative, and creative.
Strong work ethic, sense of urgency, self-motivated, and capable of working in a production environment.
