POSITION OVERVIEW
We are seeking a dedicated Lead Pipe Designer with at least 10 years of marine design experience. The candidate will apply research and experience to develop designs, create integrated functional drawings, generate 3D product models, and extract product model data for production drawings.
REQUIREMENTS
- Minimum of 10 years of marine design experience
- AutoCAD and Ship Constructor experience preferred
SKILLS
- Strong knowledge of USCG, ABS, SOLAS, and government shipbuilding standards
- Familiarity with marine systems and the shipbuilding industry
- Capability to train and supervise junior AutoCAD operators
RESPONSIBILITIES
- Supervise and lead a specialized design team to accomplish departmental goals and objectives
- Assist the Production Engineering Manager in planning, organizing, and controlling departmental activities while contributing to the development of goals, objectives, and management systems
- Assist with various calculations, including strength of materials, weights, simple forces, and stresses, frequently referencing charts and tables
- Plan and coordinate daily work schedules for designers
- Develop innovative and cost-effective solutions for vessel design
- Review purchase specifications from other disciplines to ensure compliance and integration with the overall vessel design
- Ensure that engineering deliverables conform to design requirements and customer specifications
