Perform copy and original cataloging for all types of library materials while adhering to current standard and local practices and using independent judgement as needed.
Enhance the online catalog by updating, editing, and correcting records following established procedures for bibliographic record maintenance to ensure accuracy of the catalog database.
Assist Manager of Technical Services in identification and remediation of issues in catalog database.
Coordinate and perform materials end-processing and book preservation measures.
Maintain workflows for withdrawn and reclassed materials.
Manage book processing supplies and advise Manager of Technical Services regarding supply needs.
Provide reference and circulation services in the reading room on a regular basis.
Assist with the implementation of technologies and resources that impact technical services.
Collaborate on digital and integrated library system projects.
Assist with documentation of technical services procedures in SharePoint.
Maintain knowledge of current professional practices and trends as they apply to cataloging.
Work collaboratively with staff to achieve institutional goals.
Adhere to museum policies and support management decisions in a positive and professional manner.
Complete other duties as assigned.
REQUIREMENTS
Education, Experience, and Certification:
Master of Library Science or Master of Library Information Science degree from an ALA-accredited program; equivalent experience and coursework will be considered.
One year of library cataloging experience required; museum or academic library experience a plus.
Key Qualifications:
Professional knowledge of RDA, AACR2, Library of Congress classification and subject headings; experience working with MARC records in an integrated library system setting.
Experience with Ex Libris Voyager and OCLC Connexion preferred; knowledge of cloud-based library services platforms is a plus.
Understanding of and experience with information retrieval systems.
Familiarity with Dublin Core and other data structure and content standards used in the creation of digital content a plus.
Detail-oriented, with excellent proof-reading skills.
Proficiency in commonly used Microsoft Office applications.
Aptitude for learning new skills and technologies to include problem-solving skills and learning new systems or procedures.
Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills.
Ability to sit or stand for long periods of time, lift 30 pounds, and push or pull a full book truck.
Coursework in art history and/or previous art museum experience preferred.
Reading knowledge of at least one Romance language and familiarity with languages other than English is a plus.
Ability to represent the museum in a professional and courteous manner.
Compensation:
$45,000 annually, plus full Museum benefits.
