LIAISON LIBRARIAN
BARGAINING UNIT: VSC-UP-PAT FLSA: EXEMPT
GRADE 13
BASIC FUNCTION
The Liaison Librarian communicates, supports, and educates faculty and students at VTSU and CCV in their assigned liaison departments or programs by offering reference, instructional resources, and other services to support teaching, research, course activities, and assignments.
- Provide faculty outreach related to instructional materials and manage information literacy and consultations online including the learning management system.
- Be the on-campus liaison librarian for a specific location at VTSU or CCV.
- Facilitate and maintain communication between the libraries and assigned programs and departments.
- Work with faculty in assigned areas on integrating open access resources and open educational resources into their coursework.
- Work with liaison team members to ensure equitable service among all programs and departments in the designated team.
- Work with VSCS Assistant Library Director to develop policies and procedures for virtual reference and instructional services.
- Provide reference service and research support to all students and faculty via live chat, email, virtual, and in-person office hours.
- Develop and teach general library workshops and subject-specific workshops as well as pre-recorded workshops and video tutorials and other services to support teaching, research, course activities, and assignments.
- Maintain LibGuides content management system (CMS) for online research guides in addition to other Springshare products.
- Promote library information and news via cross-campus communications and the library’s social media platforms.
- Meet with the assigned program or department faculty to discuss collection development, library resources, and services.
- Review collection statistics with the library director to manage and maintain diverse and inclusive collections.
- Work with the library director to help adjust collection development as necessary in response to new and deleted curricular, program, and research needs.
- Collaborate within the liaison area to recommend materials for a wider and/or interdisciplinary audience.
- Serve on system-wide library committees.
- Perform other related duties as assigned

Direct supervision received from the VSCS Assistant Library Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Master's degree from an ALA-accredited Library/Information Science program or equivalent degree plus three or more years of experience providing reference service, information literacy instruction, and research support in a higher education setting, or related college library experience.

- Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and communication skills.
- Ability to work independently, manage multiple projects, and be flexible in a changing and fastpaced environment.
- Ability to work creatively, collaboratively, and effectively and to promote teamwork, diversity, equality, and inclusiveness within the College and the VSCS.
- Experience with Learning Management Systems, particularly Canvas.
- Experience with using SpringShare Products and information literacy tools.
- Demonstrated understanding of relevant scholarly communication issues (e.g., intellectual
