Description
LIBRARY BRANCH MANAGER/SENIOR LIBRARIAN (Port Royal ): The Senior Librarian performs senior, professional librarian services as well as supervising circulation activities and assigned employees. Responsibilities includes: supervising and providing guidance to other staff; developing and maintaining collections; and monitoring assigned portion of the Library Services budget.Examples of Duties
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:• Trains and evaluates staff by assigning work, monitoring staff performance, and ensuring staff follow established work methods and procedures• Assists patrons by providing solutions to informational requests and evaluating resources in order to match information needs with reference and/or advisory materials; processes interlibrary loan requests in order to meet the needs of patrons.• Promotes the Library's services; assists with creating, planning, implementing, and marketing reference and instructional materials, services, and programs.• Oversees assigned programs targeted at specific age or interest groups; may have responsibility for sections of the Library focused for those readers.• Manages periodicals, art galleries, and/or community boards; prepares displays and exhibits.• Spends and manages allocated funds and reports expenses.• Maintains statistics; generates reports.• Participates in ordering and maintaining Library materials, which may include: assisting in determining materials to discard; processing purchased and donated materials; ordering supplies and cataloging materials; and performing related activitiesTypical Qualifications
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:• Masters of Library/Information Science, or related field from an accredited institution.• Three (3) years related work experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience• Eligibility for South Carolina Public Library Certification.• Must possess and maintain valid driver's license.• Computer proficiencySupplemental Information
*Beaufort County has various facilities within the county, and many departments have multiple offices to serve our citizens. Management reserves the right to transfer employees from one location to another within the county at any time based on business need. Employees will be given as much notice as possible prior to a change in work location.
