Program dates: June 2nd, 2025 - End date: August 7th, 2025
Location: Hybrid (up to three days-Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday-per week on-site in our North Adams office) or Remote. Company laptop will be provided for the duration of the program.
Weekly schedule: 28 hours per week, 9:00am-5:00pm, with a one-hour lunch break.
Pay rate: $16.50/hour
Storey's remote summer intern will support our team by assisting editorial staff with projects. We are looking for motivated students who are eager to learn about the publishing industry and be part of a creative team.
To enhance your work experience, we offer educational sessions featuring speakers from all departments of the company as well as networking and career development opportunities.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
- Interns will learn about the editorial and design process, from creative concepting to design layout to book promotions.
- Intern tasks include reviewing submissions and books in production, brainstorming new book ideas, researching comparable titles in the market, copy writing and basic editing, visual presentations and book maps, trend and market research, and researching potential authors, illustrators, and photographers.
- Interns attend meetings, such as weekly design and editorial meetings.
- Assist with implementing Storey's diversity, equity, and inclusion goals.
Education/Skill Requirements:
- Interested in a career in publishing, specifically in editorial
- Majoring in communications, journalism, English, or related fields
- Strong knowledge of MS Word
- Excellent written and oral communication skills
- Excellent organizational and research skills
- Creative thinker
- Enthusiasm for the topics Storey publishes is a plus
