The TCCL Collection Development Team is currently seeking a 20 hour/week Bilingual Collection Development Library Associate to support our library system's efforts in serving Tulsa's growing Hispanic and LatinX community. In this new role on the Collection Development Team, you will curate Spanish language collections across all locations, age groups, and formats.
The Bilingual Collection Development Library Associate is responsible for evaluating and selecting materials for the library’s Spanish language collections for all locations, age groups, and formats. This role collaborates with the Hispanic Resource Center Coordinator and works under the direction of the Collection Development Manager to develop a strategic plan for expanding and growing the Spanish language collection systemwide. This position collaborates with public service staff and uses data from vendor sites, collection statistics, community feedback, and demographic analysis to select materials that boost circulation, meet customer needs, and foster community engagement.
Location: Support Services Center - Collection Management - 1339 N. Lansing Tulsa, OK. 74106
Salary: $21.10/hr. Bilingual Bonus Paid Quarterly
Schedule: 20 hrs./week- Flexible hours between 8am and 5pm, Monday through Friday
Additional responsibilities include:
- Evaluates and selects materials for the library system’s Spanish language collections across 24 branch locations and Outreach Services, carefully curating materials in various formats in assigned areas to meet the diverse needs of the community.
- Works with Collection Development Manager and HRC Coordinator to develop a plan for expanding the systemwide Spanish language collection.
- Develops and maintains collections aimed at driving circulation growth, enhancing customer satisfaction, and fostering community engagement by working closely with public service staff and other library departments as well as utilizing data from a variety of sources such as professional journal reviews, collection statistics, community feedback, demographic analysis, customer suggestion patterns, acquisition cost analysis.
- Reviews customer suggestions for purchase in assigned areas, balancing user feedback with systemwide collection goals.
- Manages donated materials by determining their disposition according to collection policies.
- Creates and curates lists in library discovery platform to promote the collection through social media, library displays, and other marketing efforts; develops additional resources to support systemwide programming and community organizations, ensuring the collection aligns with both local and library-wide priorities.
- Assists with managing tasks and projects as assigned by Collection Development Manager such as assisting with book club orders, tracking and managing collection requests and questions from staff, tracking project outcomes, etc.
- Actively supports TCCL’s Equity, Diversity and Inclusion efforts, and the Library’s Be All In culture;
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Strong problem-solving and organizational skills, with the ability to exercise sound judgment.
- Ability to work independently and make informed decisions with minimal supervision.
- Working knowledge of library procedures and operations.
- Research and problem solving skills.
- Bachelors’ degree required.
- 2 or more years of library experience or similar experience required.
- Demonstrated fluency in both English and Spanish languages; appropriate level of proficiency will be verified through an external testing source.
Work occasionally requires stooping or bending. Occasional light lifting, such as three or four reams of paper, four or five books, or other materials (up to 20 pounds) may be required.
Work is typically conducted indoors with acceptable lighting, temperature and air conditions.
Routine in-town travel with occasional out-of-town trips. Reliable personal transportation is required.
