Overview
Assure the smooth, uninterrupted operation of the circulation desk. Assist patrons with recreation registrations, class enrollment and electronic device support. Contribute to library operations with a high degree of productivity, accuracy and recordkeeping. Maintain a high degree of friendly and professional customer service.
Responsibilities
- Familiar with Koha system, such as but not limited to, efficiently and accurately check materials in and out, maintain accurate patron records.
- Register patrons for library cards and maintain records of library patrons.
- Processes overdue library materials reports, county intra-library holds, cash register and kiosk balancing and daily statistical reports.
- Familiar with CivicRec and all Recreation enrollment procedures and practices.
- Shelve library materials and maintain assigned shelves, including straightening, shifting, cleaning, etc.
- Demonstrate reader’s advisory techniques and interest with patrons.
- Be proficient with all library materials, including digital and streaming content and the methods of accessing those products.
- Maintain patron confidentiality in accordance with Florida Statutes.
- Adept at helping patrons with use of library computers, printers, scanners, faxes and patron access devices, such as tablets, laptops and cellphones.
- Helps patrons with ready reference questions (simple informational questions).
- Knowledgeable about all library classes and programs, and proficient at using Evanced, cash register and credit card terminal.
- Initiative to support other library functions, such as Story Times, teas, children’s programs, classes, mending, processing and hospitality.
- Performs related functions as assigned.
- Available to work nights and weekends.
- Ability to work special library events outdoors.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a part-time position.
Qualifications
- High school graduate or GED is required.
- Moderate computer hardware and software literacy.
- Ability to type and use keyboard quickly and accurately.
- Valid Florida Driver's License.
- Complete the required National Incident Management System (NIMS) training within 6 months of completion of probationary period.
