As a part of the Content Management unit within UT Libraries, the Outsourced Resources Team Lead is responsible for coordinating and processing shipments of materials being sent to third parties for cataloging. The position also hires, trains, and supervises student and hourly workers that support the departments efforts to describe foreign language materials. This position reports to the Head of Outsourced and Strategic Resources . Responsibilities Hires, trains, and supervises student employees and hourly workers to assist with the cataloging outsourcing processes, such as shipment preparation and descriptive metadata processing. Track and manage student and hourly worker budget. Coordinates operations for outsourced cataloging through a combination of delegation and individual hands-on work. Collaborates closely with the Head of Outsourced and Strategic Resources in setting team benchmarks and objectives and creating and implementing policies and procedures related to the prioritization, coordination, processing, and shipment of foreign language materials being cataloged by third-parties. Catalogs using non-MARC metadata: Creates descriptive metadata in MODS and/or other non-MARC metadata schemas for monographic and continuing resources materials being submitted to the UT digital repository. Participates in department meetings. Serves on committees, task forces, and working groups related to departmental responsibilities. Attends training initiatives as directed by supervisor or Head of Content Management. Other related functions as assigned. Required Qualifications High school graduation or GED. Four years of library work experience or transferrable work experience including administrative, clerical, or customer service with increasing levels of responsibility. Familiarity working with and organizing library materials or resources in a variety of formats and languages. Familiarity with managerial, recruitment, and training processes. Experience working with an integrated library system/library service platform. Excellent attention to detail and high degree of accuracy in performing tasks. Demonstrated ability to exercise initiative, manage work?ows, and problem solve. Demonstrated ability to work both independently and as a member of a team. Experience adapting to changing environments and priorities. Strong communication skills with a focus on customer service. Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate. Preferred Qualifications Experience working in an academic library in an Acquisitions, Serials, or Technical Services environment. Experience with Alma library services platform. Experience developing workflows, sorting, shifting, packing/unpacking. Knowledge of current standard-cataloging practices and guidelines, such as RDA, AACR2, LCSH, LC Authorities, and PCC. Familiarity working with MARC records and OCLC Connexion cataloging tool. Strong organizational skills demonstrated by previous work experience. Knowledge of Library of Congress classi?cation scheme. Experience helping to solve complex problems. Ability to contribute to a thoughtful, expressive environment, with a group of team leaders working together to create a constructive, open-minded, and innovative learning community. Working Conditions May work around standard office and library conditions. Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation. Use of manual dexterity. Climbing of stairs. Lifting and moving objects, bending, kneeling, walking, standing. Work Shift:
Monday Friday between the hours of 7am and 6pm as arranged with manager. Flexible work arrangements available with up to two days/week remote. Seniority level
