Overview
The Library Associate II-STREAM will train patrons on available STREAM Center equipment and offer other educational opportunities, such as one-on-one assistance appointments, STREAM Center tours, school visits, and occasional programming. This position will increase patrons' and staff members' knowledge of current, as well as up and coming, digital resources and technologies. The Library Associate II-STREAM will also promote the library through a variety of formats and venues. Responsibilities :
Trains/demonstrates new and emerging technologies to staff and patrons. Able to troubleshoot a variety of devices.
Assists in creating and compiling useful and appropriate handouts for the public.
Responsible for supply ordering and inventory through library channels.
May orient, train, assign, schedule and check the work of other staff members.
Assists designated programmers prepare for and oversee programs. May have responsibility for overseeing passive programs and implementing programs of special interest/expertise.
Serves as resource person for other staff members.
Exercises independent judgment and initiative in organizing and prioritizing work.
Work performed may have an impact on library finances, operations, and relationships with other entities.
Act as Staff-in-Charge in the absence of the Branch Manager and Department Heads.
Enforce Code of Conduct and other policies/procedures proactively and impartially.
Inputs and retrieves computer data and statistics.
Maintains files and inventories; maintains accurate and detailed reports and records.
Operates and troubleshoots various pieces of office equipment including computers.
Serve the general public in a friendly, professional manner.
Provides assistance via the following methods: in person, telephone, email, and chat service. Uses a wide variety of print and electronic resources. Will be cross-trained at all service points.
Assist with opening and/or closing duties; assist in maintaining the orderly appearance of the library.
Process library card applications and verify patron accounts.
Process reserves, holds and renewals.
Assist other branch staff in any department when needed.
Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree in a technology field preferred; high school graduate or equivalent with some college required.
Previous work related experience in training or instructional setting preferred.
KDLA certification or ability to obtain certification (if working 100+ hours per month).
Demonstrable proficiency with a wide variety of operating systems, including Android, Apple/Mac products; Microsoft Office Suite; eReaders; etc., as well as enthusiasm for seeking out and learning emerging technologies. Proficiency with Photoshop and iMovie desired. Knowledge of graphic design software a plus.
Ability to work with limited supervision and work independently and with a team.
Ability to organize and prioritize work and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
Excellent customer service and communication skills.
Interpersonal skills to effectively deal with the public and coworkers in a positive, professional manner.
Ability to think and act strategically; ability to solve problems creatively.
Self-motivated with ability to work independently or with others in a busy department.
Moderate physical demands including the ability to bend, kneel, reach to retrieve library materials and carry items weighing up to 50lbs, and can push book trucks or bins weighing 100lbs.
Evenings and weekend work required.
