Position Type: Support Staff/Library Media Clerk Date Posted: 1/30/2025 Location: District 01/30/2025 Springfield Local Schools ANNOUNCEMENT OF SUBSTITUTE LIBRARY CLERK VACANCY POSITION: Substitute Library Clerk LOCATION: District (Middle School & Elementary Buildings) HOURS: 8:30 AM - 3:30 PM Seven (7) hours per day RATE OF PAY: Per adopted salary schedule QUALIFICATIONS: On-Line application completed Current BCI/FBI Background Check on file High School diploma or equivalent. Successful experience working with school age children. Good work and attendance record. Accurate typing and data entry skills. Formal or informal training as a library clerk. Working knowledge computers. Basic bookkeeping skills. Ability to promote books and literature to children and adults. Working knowledge of an automated library system. PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES: Maintain the library's print and non-print collection. Help maintain and keep up-to-date electronic card catalog by adding new entries and withdrawing entries as necessary. Assist students and staff with the location and use of materials and equipment. Communicate with staff, students, administrators and parents regarding the library program and invite their involvement. Compile statistics for attendance and circulation as necessary. Oversee student workers. Complete a library inventory per district schedule. Compile recommended books, magazines, non-print and supply orders. Keep accurate records of all library funds. Assist with reading incentive programs (i.e. storytelling, Birthday Book Club, contests, etc.) Participate in training opportunities to increase skills and knowledge. General secretarial functions to include basic bookkeeping and data entry. Perform other related duties as assigned.
