City of Virginia Beach Library's is in search of a full time Librarian I/II - Teen Programming and Community Outreach Associate Librarian. This position may be filled as either a Librarian I or Librarian II depending on the qualifications of the selected applicant. The associated pay grades and ranges are as follows:
Librarian I Pay Range A.8: $50,194.00 - $77,800.70
Librarian II Pay Range A.10: $55,338.90 - $85,775.30

Librarian I /II- PCO Associate Librarian Duties Include:
- Initiates, plans and conducts a variety of programs, services, outreach visits, and annual systemwide events. Serves on systemwide teams.
- Provides programming at a systemwide level and supports branch programming as assigned to meet system needs.
- Assists with project management, including system-wide programming efforts, services, and events.
- Creates age-appropriate library programs that are of interest to the community, planned collaboratively, aligned with strategic programming priorities, and developed using sound instructional design principles.
- Assists with systemwide collection analysis and maintenance.
- Develops and updates complex search strategies using the library automated system and other electronic resources to retrieve needed materials or information; conducts in-depth research using print, non-print, and electronic resources to satisfy the information needs of customers of all ages and reading skills.
- Develops and fosters a process improvement environment by encouraging ideas, identifying trends, and evaluating processes and data.
- Creates and maintains an awareness of popular authors, materials and culture, current events, and trends to recognize and respond to customers' information needs.
- Develops and maintains current knowledge of new technologies and resources in the library and publishing fields through reading professional journals, participation in professional organizations or continuing education activities to inform teams and anticipate and meet customer needs.
- Understands and explains library policies and procedures to customers and staff to resolve conflicts and achieve mutually agreeable resolutions.
- Tracks and collects data to measure services, programs and/or collections. Organizes and maintains library records per an approved record retention schedule for easy access to all relevant data.
- Generates different types of reports to aid and facilitate library planning and operations.
- Collaboratively develops and delivers competency-based trainings to meet the needs of library staff.
- May serve as a resource for career growth and employee engagement.
- Prepares, presents, and evaluates group training classes on library resources and technology to library and city staff, customers, school groups, and community groups.
- Identifies and analyzes equipment problems to determine course of action or solution to ensure safety, security, and comfort of internal and external customers.
- Makes recommendations for and assists in the design and maintenance of branch spaces with a focus on subject matter expertise.
- Participates in departmental strategic teams to develop library system policies and procedures.
