Overview
The Suffern Free Library (Rockland County) is looking for a part-time reference librarian to work on Monday evenings and Saturdays, for a total of 10 hours per week, with occasional extra hours a possibility.
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Answer patrons' reference inquiries, including information about library materials and events
- Assist patrons with their technology questions and problems, including but not limited to digital library services such as Libby, Hoopla, RCLS Go, and electronic databases
- Locate library materials for patrons, including books, DVDs, and music CDs
- Reader’s advisory for both adults and young adults
- Assist reference department in completing special projects (examples: inventory and tagging)
- Assist other staff members with set-up for events that the library is holding, including helping out with tech issues
- Enforcing library’s policies and regulations, including Code of Conduct
- Contact necessary staff, administrators, and authorities in case of an emergency
QUALIFICATIONS
- MLIS from an ALA-accredited school
- Current NY State Professional Librarian’s Certificate
- Proficiency with computers and smart devices
- Internet and Microsoft Office skills
- Ability to keep your head in tense situations and emergencies a must
- Experience with using Koha and Aspen a plus
SCHEDULE
- Mondays, 5-8 PM
- Saturdays, 9 AM-5 PM (3 Saturdays per month) [includes an hour lunch break]
Rate Information: $27 per hour
