Position Overview

The City of [City Name] is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations of the municipality. • Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
• Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support budgeting and strategic decision-making.
• Prepare and present financial statements, budget reports, and other financial documents to city leadership.
• Manage the city's general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
• Ensure timely and accurate data entry of financial transactions.

• Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for finance team members.
• Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages efficiency and innovation.
• Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations within the finance department.

• Assist in the preparation and administration of the city's annual budget.
• Ensure compliance with all financial policies, regulations, and government accounting standards.
• Coordinate with external auditors and oversee annual audits.

• Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
• Experience: Minimum of 5 years in financial management, preferably in government or public sector finance.
• Skills:
  • Strong knowledge of financial analysis, reporting, and budget management.
  • Experience with data entry and financial systems.
  • Leadership and team development abilities.
  • Excellent communication and presentation skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial software, and ERP systems.

This is a fully onsite position, requiring regular interaction with city officials, department heads, and staff. The role involves working in an office environment with occasional extended hours during budget preparation periods.
