Position Overview
The City of [City Name] is seeking an experienced and strategic Director of Finance to oversee the financial operations of the municipality. This position is responsible for financial analysis, financial reporting, data entry, and the preparation of financial statements to ensure the city's fiscal health and compliance with regulations.

Key Responsibilities Financial Management & Reporting- Oversee financial reporting, ensuring accuracy and compliance with state and federal regulations.
- Conduct financial analysis and forecasting to support budgeting and strategic decision-making.
- Prepare and present financial statements, budget reports, and other financial documents to city leadership.
- Manage the city's general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions.
- Ensure timely and accurate data entry of financial transactions.
- Provide mentorship, coaching, and professional development opportunities for finance team members.
- Foster a collaborative work environment that encourages efficiency and innovation.
- Oversee recruitment, training, and performance evaluations within the finance department.
- Assist in the preparation and administration of the city's annual budget.
- Ensure compliance with all financial policies, regulations, and government accounting standards.
- Coordinate with external auditors and oversee annual audits.
- Education: Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Public Administration, or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in financial management, preferably in government or public sector finance.
- Skills:
- Strong knowledge of financial analysis, reporting, and budget management.
- Experience with data entry and financial systems.
- Leadership and team development abilities.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, financial software, and ERP systems.
This is a fully onsite position, requiring regular interaction with city officials, department heads, and staff. The role involves working in an office environment with occasional extended hours during budget preparation periods.
