Senior Director of Marketing and Communication POSITION: Senior Director of Marketing and Communication REPORTS TO: Chief Advancement Officer STATUS: Full-time, Exempt RANGE: $120,000 - $140,000 SUMMARY: Brooklyn Law School, an independent institution in Downtown Brooklyn founded in 1901, seeks a Senior Director of Marketing and Communication to lead a dynamic team. Serving as a spokesperson for the Law School, this pivotal role is responsible for developing, implementing, and maintaining a comprehensive communications and marketing strategy that builds and protects Brooklyn Law’s brand, strengthens its reputation, and elevates the Law School’s profile through earned and owned media. Reporting to the Chief Advancement Officer (CAO), the Senior Director of Marketing and Communication will provide strategic oversight of the Law School’s integrated communications, marketing, multimedia content and public relations efforts to engage key audiences. You will be charged with elevating the institution's brand visibility and aligning marketing/communication strategies with the Law School’s mission and strategic goals. The Senior Director will be a critical partner to the CAO in launching the Law School’s first comprehensive fund-raising campaign. Responsibilities include: Work with CAO to develop a holistic communications and marketing strategy for the Law School that tells the stories and shares the vision that supports the upcoming comprehensive campaign. Lead the communications and marketing team with expertise, offering guidance, mentorship, and fostering opportunities for professional development. Lead communications and marketing campaigns from concept to execution, including strategic planning, content creation, project management, and communications. Develop and execute social media strategies, including platform-specific content creation, to engage audiences and increase brand visibility. Oversee multimedia content creation, including video production, to ensure consistent, impactful messaging across all channels. Manage recruitment marketing efforts, including creating content, project management, and reporting, in alignment with the school’s strategic goals. Monitor and manage the Law School’s online presence, including the website, social media platforms, and other digital channels. Oversee creative of compelling external marketing materials to support recruitment and fundraising efforts, including brochures, videos, and presentations. Serve as the primary point of contact for media relations and manage public relations activities to promote positive visibility for the Law School and manage/advise on crisis communications. Build and sustain relationships with external partners, stakeholders, and community organizations to elevate the Law School’s local and national reputation. Provide event-related marketing support, including the creation of emails and collateral materials, coordination of video and photography shoots, and content for the website. Ensure design consistency and manage the execution of marketing and communications strategies for fundraising, recruitment, faculty and other school initiatives. Monitor and report on campaign performance and make data-driven adjustments. Develop and oversee department budget. Complete other duties as assigned. Required: Bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, journalism, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and relevant professional experience. Minimum of seven (7) to ten (10) years of progressively responsible experience in communications and marketing. Proven track record of developing and executing integrated marketing strategies and campaigns, ideally within higher education, nonprofit, or mission-driven environments. Exceptional writing, proofreading, and editing skills, with the ability to adapt to the voice and vision of the Dean and President. Strong leadership and team management experience, including mentoring staff and fostering professional development. Strong understanding of communications and marketing principles, current trends, strategies and experience in campaign management. Expertise in social media strategy and content management across various platforms. Proficiency with digital marketing tools and web applications. Ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment. Strong attention to detail, including grammar, style, and visual consistency across platforms. Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends, as needed. Preferred: Advanced degree in marketing or communications preferred. Lived or professional experience in the NYC market. Knowledge of higher education and fundraising marketing is strongly desired. Salesforce CRM experience is desired. This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule.
