Position Description
Job Title: Adjunct Pool - Visual Art
Classification: Faculty
Division: Academic Affairs
Department: Visual Art
Reports: Chair
FLSA Status: Salaried, Exempt
Location: Lincoln University Main Campus
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Teach undergraduate courses in specific content areas as assigned by department chair. Areas offered by the department include:
- Ceramics
- Printmaking
- Painting/ Drawing
- Graphic Arts
- Digital Photography
- Video Art
- Foundations (2d/3d)
- Museum Studies & Art History
- Prepares syllabi that meet department and university template standards.
- Prepares meaningful classroom experiences which include a variety of pedagogical strategies, including lectures, discussion, tests and exams.
- Compiles, administers, and grades examinations. Know that students question grades. Record keeping is of the utmost importance.
- Participates in Assessment activities by submitting data of student learning outcomes in a timely fashion at the end of each semester. Adjuncts will be schooled in this mandatory exercise.
- And all other relevant duties as assigned by the Chair.
- MFA in related field required for studio art classes. Ph.D. required for Art History classes.
- Teaching experience in an undergraduate/graduate institution.
- Must be able to work with little or no supervision.
- Must be able to make decisions supporting the department’s mission and goals.
- Must have excellent communication skills, oral and written.
- Must have interpersonal skills, and the ability to work within a culturally diverse organization.
- Must have a high level of professional appearance and demeanor.
- Ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality.
Work is primarily performed in a university campus environment and requires a flexible schedule including possible evening and weekend work. The employee is subject to inside environmental conditions, protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
Physical Demands
Moderate lifting up to 20 pounds as frequently as needed to move objects; dexterity to write and manipulate computer keyboard and mouse; ability to hear and speak clearly; and body mobility to stoop, kneel, and bend and reach.
