Job Summary:
B&A is looking for a Technical Writer/Editor to join a contract with a federal government client in support of an important mission. In this role, you will have the opportunity to work with a great team while supporting the OSCAR program.
Responsibilities
- Collect and organize information required for preparation of program communications, online web content, user manuals, training materials, installation guides, proposals, and reports.
- Write and edit functional descriptions, system specifications, user manuals, special reports, or any other customer deliverables and documents to include the OSCAR Program Annual Statistical Report.
- Develop and prepare program statistical reports, charts, tables, and graphs. Coordinate, plan, and organize all program communications in various formats. Provide support for developing and maintaining website content, policies, presentations, and other written documents.
- Analyze internal and external communications and recommend innovative communications channels to include leveraging social media platforms.
- Serve as editorial lead and direct and coordinate all internal and external communications ensuring communications products meet the Government’s style guide, document templates, and quality standards.
- Assist in determining assignments, setting priorities, monitoring progress, and reporting on program communications and statistical analysis.
- Oversee the maintenance of the program’s communication plans and document style guide. Coordinate all editorial plans and schedules (including editorial calendars).
- Develop and manage program content throughout its life cycle from content development to its final publication/website posting. Write, edit, and proofread program content and documentation. Create and maintain program-related communications plans.
- Manage the text, images, video, audio, and other content on program websites. Maintain quality control across the program website (e.g., links, photos, functionality, and content).
- Provide directions and assistance to program staff who are assigned to develop products for web and digital information delivery.
- Review products to ensure adherence to Government policies and document style guide and templates. Analyze the effectiveness of program communications and make recommendations for improvement.
Education and Experience
- Bachelor's degree in English, Literature, Communications, Social Sciences, Computer science/systems, Information technology, Software Engineering, Business Management, or Finance.
Required Skills
- Specialized experience includes statistical analysis, analysis of business applications, technical documentation, website content development, and development of communications plans.
- Demonstrated ability to communicate orally and in writing and a positive customer service attitude. Proficient in MSWord, Excel, PowerPoint, and Adobe Acrobat.
- Experience with graphic design products such as Adobe InDesign, Photoshop, and Illustrator is preferred.
Desired Skills
- Familiar with updating web content including use of a WYSIWYG and basic HTML.
- Strong project management skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Experience working with government regulations and standards, including MIL-STD-38784, MIL-HDBK-1222C, and S1000D.
Security Clearance
- Eligible to obtain a Public Trust Clearance.
