Overview
Currently we have an Associate Designer role open. As an Associate Designer, one will design mechanisms, structures, circuitry and controls for products to meet Link-Belt goals of Quality, Cost and Delivery.
Essential Job Functions
- Prepare and check calculations to determine size, strength, or other information limiting or governing the performance and/or design of a new or existing product.
- Prepare and check detail drawings for accuracy and conformance to Link-Belt Design Policies.
- Create layouts of new designs or revisions to existing designs.
- Interact with suppliers to obtain component information and establish component specifications.
- Prepare and check engineering orders per Link-Belt Design policies.
- Produce and revise bill of materials per Link-Belt Design policies.
- Calculate weights and center of gravities for components and assemblies.
- Prepare and review assembly drawings for proper fit, completeness and including all necessary dimensions.
- Investigate and design solutions for "sales specials" request as needed.
- Investigate field service issues and make recommendations for corrections.
- Support prototype assembly process as needed.
- Support manufacturing areas as needed during assembly, welding, and machining processes.
- Resolve manufacturing issues identified by production engineering, material sourcing, welders and assemblers.
- Coordinate the work of other personnel to complete design.
General qualifications for this role:
- Two year college degree in Mechanical or Electrical Design Engineering Technology or equivalent
- Minimum of four (4) years' of proven design experience in the crane industry or eight (8) years' in the heavy equipment industry, preferred
