Job Summary:
SW North America’s Mechanical Designer Engineer’s primary responsibility is to coordinate with Manager of Machine Technology, Program Managers and Project Engineers during the Design and Build of SWNA Machine Systems. The Mechanical Design Engineer uses customers specifications to develop Machines and Options to satisfy the customer needs.
The Mechanical Designer performs a variety of duties, including, but not limited to:
- Design Machines and Option solutions using SW standards
- Develop System Layouts, Assembly and Detail Drawings according to Project and customer requirements
- Design Machine to Automation interface
- Develop Technical Scopes of Supply based on project requirements
- Collaborate with suppliers on Sub Assembly processes
- Work with the Program Manager and Project Engineer throughout the design process to ensure the customer specifications are met
- Maintains technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing professional publications
- All other duties as assigned
Qualifications & Abilities
- Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering, or equivalent work experience
- 5-10 years of experience in Mechanical Design related to Machine Design, preferred
- 5-10 years of CAD experience in SolidWorks and/or CATIA, preferred
- Understand ANSI and ISO standards
- Strong computer and mathematical skills
- Ability to handle multiple tasks concurrently, prioritizing them appropriately
- Good organizational skills and detail-oriented
- Knowledge of GDT & part print reading (both 1st and 3rd angle projection)
- Ability to read, write, and speak English
- German speaking ability preferred, but not required
Work Environment & Physical Requirements
- Primary work area is a controlled office environment, requiring the ability to sit for extended periods of time
