The Denver Public Library (DPL) is a growing urban library system that serves the residents of the City & County of Denver. The role of the Marketing Specialist is to plan, build, and implement traditional marketing strategies and campaigns across multiple channels and platforms to support and engage customers and the greater community in library programs, services, collections, staffing, training, and overall communication.
- Develops and implements traditional marketing strategies/campaigns to increase awareness of library services and offerings while collaborating with Digital Marketing Specialist to create and implement integrated marketing strategies based on robust data, brand guidelines and the direction of the Marketing Manager
- Establishing and managing calendars/timelines and providing support to other creative staff to maintain timeliness
- Develops copy and coordinates visual elements with the creative team in support of marketing campaigns.
- Recommends, develops, and/or modifies procedures, guidelines, standards, and policies to support a systemwide marketing strategy including goals and objectives, content calendars, and what changes need to be made based on feedback gathered from internal and external stakeholders.
- Conducts market research, analyzes data, identifies actual and potential problem areas, trends, areas of imbalance, and related factors for continuous quality improvement
- Coordinates, tracks, and monitors marketing contracts and vendors while establishing and maintaining relationships with DPL locations and departments as well as other City agencies and stakeholders
- Measures and reports performance of all traditional marketing campaigns and assesses against goals (i.e. ROI, KPIs)
- Discovers and recommends appropriate marketing and promotional channels to relay product messages to effectively reach target audiences.
- Supports miscellaneous marketing and communications activities such as budgeting, events planning, advertising, optimization and content development
- Plans and develops content for monthly publications in collaboration with various stakeholders (groups and individuals) while ensuring adherence to editorial standards and timelines.
- Supervises assigned marketing staff and matrix manages staff involved with marketing projects and programs.
- This position currently reports to the Marketing Manager in support of the organization's strategic brand work.
Our ideal candidate has experience with traditional marketing and communications and a demonstrated commitment to equity and accessibility. They should also be a friendly and professional self motivated, self starter guided by curiosity and action oriented.
Additionally, you have:
- Specialize in all aspects of the organization's traditional marketing infrastructure for customer engagement
- Excellent persuasive writing skills and an efficient content creation process
- Ability to proactively meet deadlines with keen attention to details and follow through
- Excellent time management with the ability to prioritize and follow up on multiple tasks while meeting short deadlines
- Knowledge of budgeting principles and practices sufficient to be able to assume budgetary responsibilities as needed.
- Excellent written and oral communication
- Experience with navigating technology such as Proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, virtual meeting platforms, online databases and related software programs
- Bachelors' degree in Marketing, Communications, or relevant area of expertise
- Equivalency: One (1) year of the appropriate type and level of experience may be substituted for each required year of post-high school education. Additional appropriate education such as technical training may also be substituted for the minimum experience requirement.
- Four (4) years of professional/technical experience performing marketing functions including research and analysis, developing public announcements and publications, and developing marketing strategies.
- Previous work experience with extensive public contact serving diverse customers; or, an equivalent combination of education and experience sufficient to successfully perform the essential duties of the job described above.
- Written and verbal proficiency in a language other than English strongly preferred but not required
