We are seeking an experienced Assistant Manager of Marketing and Communications to support initiatives at the Turner-Fairbank Highway Research Center's Saxton Transportation Operations Laboratory in McLean, Virginia. This cutting-edge research lab facilitates groundbreaking studies and testing, enabling the U.S. Department of Transportation (USDOT) to advance and refine new transportation services and technologies alongside Leidos and our partners.
In this role, you will lead marketing and communications strategies focused on emerging transportation technologies. Your responsibilities will encompass content creation, team management, and collaboration with technical and client teams to promote advancements in intelligent transportation systems and automated vehicle technologies.
As part of your duties, you will work closely with professionals in Transportation, Engineering, Software Development, Artificial Intelligence, Marketing, and Communications to produce materials across various platforms, including multimedia, print, digital, and web, to effectively engage target audiences and bolster the adoption of intelligent transportation solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and implement strategies to enhance and maintain brand visibility and reputation aligned with organizational values.
- Plan and manage campaigns from ideation to implementation, ensuring audience engagement and alignment with organizational goals.
- Coordinate internal and external communications to guarantee consistent messaging across all channels.
- Create engaging content tailored to diverse audiences on both digital and traditional platforms.
- Utilize web channels and technologies to promote products or services, reaching target demographics to achieve business objectives.
- Identify and cultivate potential clients to generate interest in our offerings.
- Develop communication strategies to effectively promote products and services through various channels.
- Lead project execution by defining objectives, creating plans and timelines, monitoring progress, and ensuring successful outcomes.
- Review written content for accuracy and clarity before publication.
- Manage relationships with stakeholders, including media and community partners, to foster positive interactions.
- Engage audiences through online media platforms, enhancing brand awareness and driving business results.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree with 4+ years or a Master's degree with 2+ years in marketing, communications, public relations, or a related field.
- Ability to obtain and maintain a Public Trust clearance (requires three years of immediate U.S. residency).
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Proven experience in leading communications strategy, planning, and managing teams of marketing specialists.
- Solid understanding of integrated marketing and branding best practices.
- Expertise in creating innovative, audience-centered content.
- Ability to collaborate effectively across various technical and proposal teams.
- Strong strategic planning and time management skills.
- Experience in developing marketing and communications content for diverse platforms.
- Proficiency in organizing in-person and virtual events.
- Experience in tracking and reporting metrics to assess success.
- Skilled in using Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, and Adobe Creative Suite.
- Able to thrive under pressure and manage multiple deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience using project management tools such as Adobe Workfront.
- Understanding of the transportation industry, engineering, automated vehicle technologies, or intelligent transportation systems.
- Demonstrated project delivery experience within budget and on time, with knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Experience with accessibility standards related to documents and electronic media.
Anticipated Pay Range for the Role: $85,000 - $105,000
The salary range for this position is a guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation. Factors in determining an offer include responsibilities, education, experience, skills, and internal equity.
