Job Description
Are you interested in sound systems, audio recording, or behind-the-scenes event support? The Media Center is hiring Audio Technician Assistants for the Fall 2025 semester!
KEY OUTCOMES REQUIRED OF THE ROLE :
Essential Function 1: Customer Service
| Supporting Activities:
- Greet and assist visitors professionally, addressing questions and requests.
- Answer phone calls and route inquiries to the appropriate personnel.
- Serve as a liaison between departments and assist with event coordination.
| Supporting Activities:
- Assist with setting up, testing, and troubleshooting microphones, mixers, speakers, and other audio gear.
- Assist with conducting routine equipment checks and basic maintenance.
- Keep audio gear organized, clean, and securely stored.
- Assist with operating sound systems during live events (e.g., assemblies, seminars).
- Assist with monitoring and adjusting audio levels in real-time.
- Assist with coordinating with presenters and staff for event-specific audio needs.
- Assisting with recording and editing audio for interviews, podcasts, videos, and other projects.
- Use software such as Audacity or Adobe Audition to clean and process audio.
- Archive and label audio files for easy access and future use.
Essential Function 4: Other Duties

- Perform additional tasks assigned by the Multi-Media Specialist as needed.
- Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical concepts clearly.
- Problem-Solving: Troubleshoot audio issues independently.

- Interpersonal Skills: Work well with students, faculty, and staff.
- Initiative: Work independently and as part of a team.

- Must be enrolled as a full-time student (12 or more credits)
- Must be eligible for Work Study as determined by the college’s financial aid office.
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.0 or higher.
- Must have completed at least two semesters at the institution.
- Basic communication and customer service skills.
- Must demonstrate punctuality, reliability, and professionalism.
- Cumulative GPA of 3.0 or higher
- Prior media, or audio recording and editing experience
- Proven record of reliable attendance and punctuality
- Ability to work well in fast-paced or busy environments (e.g., during events)

- Comfortable using video equipment and camera, and basic office equipment

PURPOSE
This work-study position plays a key role in supporting the audio technician service within the Media Services office. The student assistant will gain hands-on experience in sound production and technical operations, while also supporting communication and coordination for campus events.
GENERAL DESCRIPTION
The Audio Technician Assistant supports the CMI Media Department by setting up, operating, and maintaining audio equipment for college events, recordings, and media productions. The role includes live sound operation, audio editing, and customer interaction, ensuring smooth delivery of media services across campus.
