A Marketing Associate at Mekanic brings brands to market in effective and authentic ways across various platforms and channels. Combining strategy, audience research, design, and storytelling, the Marketing Associate actively supports efforts to drive awareness, interest, participation, and engagement with brands, events, products, programs, and initiatives. This role collaborates with cross-functional teams to implement distinct campaigns and ongoing marketing initiatives through compelling storytelling, creative solutions, and proven methods that differentiate brands, create visibility and affinity, and—most importantly—drive desired actions and behaviors to meet client goals.
The ideal candidate will leverage experience in multi-channel marketing—including traditional marketing, email automation, social media, and in-person engagement—to successfully execute campaigns. They will also support workshops, planning meetings, and define implementation tactics that shape brand strategies, with measurable KPIs that are clearly tracked and communicated.
This key role supports multiple complex clients across various ongoing projects, collaborating with project managers and colleagues to exceed client expectations.
Reports to the Chief Marketing Officer.
- Develop marketing communications and collaborate with copywriters to craft content and storytelling aligned with brand guidelines and creative briefs.
- Implement marketing strategies in partnership with colleagues, partners, and client teams.
- Utilize industry-standard tools for marketing automation, digital engagement, and email communication to ensure campaign success and achievement of defined metrics.
- Lead clients and internal teams in the execution of marketing strategies across products, programs, and initiatives to advance client goals.
- Analyze client brand collateral, conduct audits, and evaluate trends to identify opportunities for brand marketing improvements.
- Support workshops by synthesizing data and insights for cross-functional teams.
- Participate in ideation sessions on brand, marketing, and engagement efforts.
- Identify audience personas, insights, challenges, and opportunities.
- Manage and report on marketing plans, providing actionable insights to internal and client teams.
- Maintain proactive communication with clients, adapting strategies as needed based on evolving needs and performance data.
- Analyze and report on KPIs, collaborating with leadership to make strategic recommendations based on data-driven insights.

Technical Job Knowledge and Skills:
Candidates should demonstrate experience in the following areas:
- Association Marketing: Knowledge of the unique marketing needs of member-based organizations.
- AMS Experience: Familiarity with Higher Logic or similar association management systems.
- Membership Recruitment Campaigns: Skilled in developing campaigns that drive sign-ups, renewals, and member engagement.
- Event Marketing: Understanding of strategies for promoting conferences, webinars, and other association events.
- Technical Proficiency: Experience with Apple products, Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Adobe Creative Suite, and Google Tools.
- Platform Adaptability: Ability to stay updated on CRM, AMS, and social media platform changes, algorithm shifts, and new features.
- CRM Expertise: Proficiency in HubSpot, Mailchimp, or similar platforms is not required but beneficial to have.
- Research & Discovery: Proven ability to synthesize and communicate research findings effectively.
Education and Experience:
- 3+ years of experience in marketing, communications, or branding, preferably at an agency.
- Experience in the association and nonprofit sectors is preferred.
- Bachelor’s degree in Advertising, Marketing, Communications, English, Journalism, or a related discipline is preferred but not required.
Compensation:
- Salary: $80,000–$95,000 base salary, commensurate with experience.
- Location: Based in our Alexandria, Virginia office. After the initial 90-day period (pending advisor approval), employees may work remotely one day per week. After two years, employees become eligible for up to two remote workdays per week.
