Overview
The Product Engineer will act as a liaison with manufacturing to ensure Product Quality. This role will be responsible for executing product configuration requests and turning design ideas and prototypes into manufacturing ready components. This role will own engineering activity as it relates to the Quality Management system.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Meet with the Product Team to discuss new designs and marketable products
- Determine product feasibility costs and return on investments
- Develop test plans and analyze design for areas of concern
- Construct bill of materials (BOMs) and write assembly instructions
- Ownership over Corrective and Preventative Action Reports
- Root Cause analysis and disposition of Non-Conforming Product
- Support production and fabrication by reviewing part quality or assembly issues
- Create incoming and in-process part inspection procedures and provide training as needed
- Assist in vendor selection by reviewing capabilities, cost, and quality
- Collaborate with customer's engineers; execution of Supplier Change Notifications
- Identify opportunities for product cost reduction
- Support ISO certification by following SOPs and offering suggestions for process improvement
- Design sheet metal and injection molded components in SolidWorks
- Work with overseas sourcing and creating procurement specifications
DESIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Proficient with ERP software, Infor Visual Manufacturing is desired but not required.
- 2D/3D CAD Experience, SolidWorks preferred
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills
- Ability to manage simultaneous projects of varying complexity
- Ability to respond to inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies, or the business community
- Experience in Sheet Metal product design and manufacturing
