Position Summary
The Department of English at Metropolitan State University of Denver (MSU Denver) invites applications for part-time affiliate faculty instructors of English (First Year Writing). MSU Denver enrolls over 16,000 students, nearly 60% of whom are first-generation, and over 55% are students of color. Responsibilities
- Teach one to nine credit hours per semester in First Year Writing.
- Ability to teach day, evening, weekend, or off-campus classes as needed, face-to-face or online.
- Work sensitively with the educational needs of a diverse, urban student population.
- Additional duties include delivering course content, preparing materials, grading, providing timely feedback, addressing student questions, maintaining office hours, and complying with university policies on instruction evaluation and peer observation.
Required Qualifications
- Master's degree in Rhetoric and Composition, Writing Studies, or English with coursework in rhetoric and composition.
- At least one year of college-level composition teaching experience.
Preferred Qualifications
- Doctorate in Rhetoric and Composition.
- Two years of college-level composition teaching experience.
Terms of Employment
Affiliate faculty are part-time, at-will employees hired on a per-credit-hour basis for specific classes, usually semester-by-semester. They are not eligible for university benefits. Teaching assignments depend on budget and enrollment. Candidates will be expected to teach in person/on campus upon hire.
Salary for Announcement
