WHEN: Two semesters, Summer and Fall, May - December 2025; start and end dates are flexible. The work schedule will be approximately 10-15 hours weekly, Monday to Friday.
WHERE: This internship will primarily take place onsite with the Education Department at the Anchorage Museum in Anchorage, Alaska.
WHAT: The Anchorage Museum is seeking enthusiastic applicants for our Education Internship: Audio and Digital Museum Resources for the summer and fall semesters.
The education intern will collaborate directly with the Education Interpretation Manager and the Director of Educational Experiences to support and assist in developing the museum's audio and visual descriptions, as well as educational resources. This internship will emphasize writing, video, and sound recording and editing of selected pieces within the museum's collection. The intern will also receive an introduction to informal education pedagogies and approaches. The position includes mentorship in developing educational resources, time management strategies, and evaluating informal learning environments. No previous teaching or data analysis experience is required, but a strong interest in art, writing, digital media, and education is preferred.
Internship recipients will receive a stipend of $2,750 per semester. Housing, benefits, and transportation are not provided.
WHO: Applicants must be at least 18, must be computer and Adobe Creative Cloud literate, have experience in recording, writing, and research, and should be a current college or graduate student in Education, Museum Studies, Art, History, Native Studies, Anthropology, or related field. Previous experience with curriculum development or teaching is preferred, but not required.
