Senior Designer
for our
Boston, MA
studio. The Senior Designer is responsible for leading all design phases for interior projects, establishes the vision, leads the team, and has extensive client interaction.Specific responsibilities will include:Develops overall design for the projectDirects staff to complete design and technical drawingReview design and technical drawing of other more junior designersReview of engineering drawings to ensure they comply with the design solutionWorks with technical staff to resolve inconsistencies in drawingsResearches and selects fixtures and finishes to use for projectsObtain client approval and ensure integration into the overall designProduces, reviews, and finalizes space plans for projectsExtensive knowledge of detailing and finalizing details on projectsDevelops and delivers overall design and furniture packagesReviews and produces final cost estimatesIn unusual circumstances may be required to assist with support for field surveysManages overall design budgetEnsures adherence to set budget and immediately informs PM and/or client of any potential variances to the budgetManages the work of other DesignersOversees tasks and provides feedback on work productOrganizes and conducts client interviews to determine space needs and requirementsContinues to provide needed information to client on design specifications; good working knowledge of Affinity program toolQualifications:Graduate of architecture or design school: equivalent experience may be substituted10+ years' experience in corporate workplace interior design projectsKnowledge, Skills, and Abilities:Extensive knowledge of design principles and aestheticsExtensive knowledge of space planning methodologyExtensive knowledge of furnishings and finishesProficient with the concepts of furniture layoutExpert sketching and rendering skillsExpert interior architecture detailing skillsExtensive knowledge of CDs and proceduresExtensive knowledge of building systems, codes and ADA requirementsExtensive knowledge of contract administrationIntermediate MS Office Suite skillsAdvanced Revit skillsAdvanced Adobe Creative Suite skillsAffinity Program skills or equivalentExtensive verbal and written communication skillsExtensive presentation and graphic communicationDemonstrated ability to manage and lead staff through a combination of direct authority and subject matter expertiseWorking knowledge of budget preparation and proven ability to manage projects within budgetary constraintsIn addition to the above skills, the successful candidate for the Boston studio is a market leader who is engaged with the design process at every level from visioning to project detailing. Will be actively involved in client engagement. Must be capable of taking a leadership role in design development with strong mentoring skills to lead the junior and intermediate designers.
