What You’ll Do:
As the selected UI/UX Developer, you’ll design and develop a user-friendly, accessible, and visually appealing application. You will work closely with product managers, developers, and stakeholders to ensure that the application meets the needs of local state agencies and adheres to state regulations and accessibility standards.
Responsibilities will include but are not limited to:
- User Research: Conduct user research, including interviews, surveys, and usability testing, to gather insights into the needs, preferences, and pain points of the end users.
- Personas and Journey Mapping: Develop user personas and map user journeys to identify key touchpoints and improve the overall user experience.
- Wireframes and Prototypes: Create low-fidelity wireframes and high-fidelity prototypes using tools such as Sketch, Figma, or Adobe XD.
- Usability Testing: Design and conduct usability testing sessions, collect feedback, and iterate on designs based on user feedback.
- Collaboration: Work closely with product managers, business analysts, and stakeholders to ensure that designs meet business objectives and technical feasibility.
- Front-End Development: Implement pixel-perfect UI designs using modern front-end technologies like HTML5, CSS3, and JavaScript.
- Accessibility Compliance: Ensure that UI designs and implementations comply with WCAG 2.2 and local government accessibility standards.
- Responsive Design: Develop responsive web applications that work seamlessly across various devices, browsers, and screen sizes.
- Component Libraries: Develop reusable UI components and front-end libraries to promote consistency across the application.
- Cross-Browser Compatibility: Ensure consistent look and feel across different web browsers and troubleshoot issues.
- Collaboration with Developers: Work closely with back-end developers to ensure that the front-end code integrates smoothly with back-end services.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Collaborate with business users and project managers to understand requirements and translate them into intuitive user interfaces.
- Agile Workflow: Participate in Agile activities and collaborate in cross-functional Scrum teams.
- Design Systems and Guidelines: Contribute to or develop and maintain a design system for consistency across the application.
- Optimize Performance: Optimize front-end code for maximum performance and speed.
What You’ll Need:
- Experience: 3+ years of experience as a UX/UI Developer, preferably for government or public sector projects.
- UI/UX Design Skills: Proficiency in UX design tools such as Sketch, Figma, Adobe XD, or InVision.
- Front-End Development Skills: Solid experience with HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and modern front-end frameworks.
- Accessibility Knowledge: Understanding of accessibility standards (WCAG) and experience designing accessible websites.
- Responsive Design: Experience in creating responsive, mobile-first web applications.
- Cross-Browser Compatibility: Ability to ensure consistent design implementation across all browsers.
- Version Control: Familiarity with version control systems like Git.
- User-Centered Design: Experience in conducting user research and usability testing.
- Communication Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Problem-Solving: Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to design creative solutions.
- Government Experience: Experience working on local or state government applications is a plus.
