KXII-TV News 12 is seeking a multimedia journalist to help bring the stories that matter to Texomans into their homes and onto our digital platforms from our main Sherman, TX newsroom. This is a full-time, on-air news reporting position working directly under the news director and anchors with producers. You'll learn the ropes from an experienced, award-winning news team, and tell stories that air in the market’s top-rated newscasts, as well as contribute your material onto our digital platforms. General responsibilities include:
- Write, shoot, and edit stories on your own for daily newscasts, website and social platforms
- Post and regularly update stories and other material on our digital properties
- Use social media sites, including Facebook, to report stories and interact with viewers
- Research, gather, & provide information in the most accurate, appealing, timely & creative way using all resources
- Develop and maintain sources of information and knowledge about assignments
- Participate in story selection process through meetings, and contribute story ideas daily
- Demonstrate sound news judgment, collaborate with others to present the story in the best way
- Ability to travel for assignments, as needed
- Ability to lift 35-40 lbs of gear
- Recognize that he/she is a high-profile representative of our news organization in the community and conduct himself/herself in a professional and cordial manner
- Perform other duties as assigned
- Work evenings, weekends and holidays as needed.
Qualifications are:
- Ability to shoot and edit video, write scripts, and effectively communicate live on-air. PLEASE INCLUDE LINK TO DEMO REEL
- Flexibility in scheduling, to respond to the changing news landscape
- A degree in journalism or related field, or equivalent professional experience.
- Familiarity with non-linear editing, TVU, JVC ENG, Social Media.
KXII News 12 is seeking a dual threat employee to serve as morning co-anchor and multimedia journalist. General responsibilities include:
- Co-anchor 2-hour weekday morning newscast
- Serve as breaking news reporter during morning shift
- Report daily at end of AM newscast and turn story for PM casts
- Fill-in anchor as needed when primary morning/midday anchor is out
- Possess great live reporting skills for field anchoring and breaking news
- Appear at various community events that may occur outside normal shift
- Serve as mentor and teacher to young reporters and producers
Qualifications are:
- Prior anchoring and on-air reporting experience preferred, but not required. Please include a link to your demo reel in your application.
- The right candidate will have the ability to anchor every type of story, be a strong and willing multimedia journalist, help produce the morning and midday newscasts as needed, write great copy, edit video, and be a leader in the newsroom.
- Must possess strong writing and information gathering skills, be a quick thinker ready for anything, and have strong ad-lib abilities.
- College degree in related field preferred.
- Must have good driving record and valid driver's license, and a commitment to Gray’s drug-free workplace policy.
