CMF Designer
Job Summary
Our client in Troy, MI is looking for a CMF Designer. This is a Contract position.
We are seeking a creative, experienced CMF Automotive Designer who is upbeat, self-motivated, and organized to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have at least 3 years of experience, a keen eye for color, grain, gloss, texture, palettes, material trends, and sustainability, along with excellent communication and project management skills.
What You Get To Do
- Create attractive, functional, feasible, and cost-conscious CMF strategies for interiors and exteriors of our products, ensuring alignment with our brand DNA and target markets.
- Manage both conceptual and production programs, collaborating with talented team members on impactful projects.
Looking for a creative, experienced CMF Automotive Designer with at least 5 years of experience, a keen eye for color, grain, gloss, texture, palettes, material trends, and sustainability, as well as excellent communication and project management skills. The candidate will oversee program timelines, maintain a material development database, participate in design reviews, and communicate effectively.
Responsibilities
- Design activities for both Interior and Exterior projects, creating mood boards, color palettes, material samples, and pitch decks for presentations.
- Define and implement materials, finishes, textures, and colors for production and conceptual programs.
- Research and analyze trends in automotive and consumer markets to forecast and identify opportunities for differentiation and innovation.
- Source new materials to keep the CMF library innovative.
- Connect with suppliers to realize design visions.
- Create patterns and graphics to define brand identity.
- Manage appearance development and approval processes with suppliers, maintaining design intent and system for storing samples.
- Understand automotive specifications and performance requirements for finishes.
- Develop creative finish solutions that balance appearance and cost.
- Provide charts for production development of colors and materials.
- Ensure quality control of finishes throughout production phases.
Qualifications
- BA or BS Degree in relevant design fields or equivalent professional experience with a portfolio.
- Minimum of 3 years of related experience.
- Ability to create inspiring mood boards and program palettes.
- Proficiency with design tools such as Adobe Creative Suite, Keyshot, Alias, VRED, Maya, CATIA, SOLIDWORKS.
- Excellent communication skills for effective presentations.
- Ability to manage multiple activities and meet deadlines.
- Experience working cross-functionally with internal teams and externally with suppliers and partners.
