The Role: Quality Assurance Specialist
Orora Visual Dallas is seeking a Quality Assurance Specialist to support with administering the company’s quality management system to ensure quality standards are met before delivering exceptional project products for our customers.
The Quality Assurance Specialist will coordinate with Departmental Supervisors and Managers, in the deployment of continuous improvement recommendations, strategies, and assignments.

What You’ll be Responsible For in this Role
A Quality Assurance Specialist in the printing industry is responsible for meticulously examining printed materials at various stages of production to ensure the product meets established quality standards, including color accuracy, registration, ink consistency, and overall appearance, by identifying and reporting any defects or inconsistencies to maintain a high level of print quality throughout the production process. Training and giving direction to the QA team members duties.
Quality Assurance Team Development is essential to meeting the responsibilities of this role. Identification and training of coworkers and candidates to execute to established quality standards and assist in large rollouts. Team development will be accomplished through SOP deployment, training, checklists, and task lists.
Communication on ‘Out of Spec’ product to departmental managers and operators both verbally and in some cases written, based on the developed ‘Out of Spec’ Template.
Other Key responsibilities:
- Visual inspection: Examining printed materials for visible flaws like misaligned text, incorrect colors, smudges, streaks, or blemishes.
- Color measurement: Using spectrophotometers to precisely measure and compare colors against specified color standards.
- Registration checks: Verifying that different color inks are precisely aligned on the printed page.
- Ink consistency checks: Monitoring the quality and consistency of ink throughout the printing run.
- Paper quality checks: Inspecting paper stock for defects like wrinkles, tears, or improper sizing.
- Dimensional checks: Measuring printed materials to ensure they meet specified size and trim requirements.
- Maintaining records: Documenting inspection results, identifying issues, and reporting findings to production staff and supervisors.
- Identifying root causes: Analyzing defects to pinpoint potential problems within the printing process and recommending corrective actions.
- Attention to detail: A high level of focus is crucial to identify even minor inconsistencies.
- Technical knowledge: Understanding printing processes, color theory, and quality control procedures.
- Communication skills: Effectively communicating findings to production staff and management.
- Problem-solving abilities: Identifying the root cause of issues and proposing solutions to prevent future errors.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma/GED
- 3-5 years of Quality experience
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint).
- Understanding of the principles of quality assurance.
Additional Preferred Qualifications:
- Demonstrated experience and application of root cause analysis, issue trending, and Pareto Analysis experience.
- Accomplished in making significant improvements on key metrics such as quality, spoilage reduction, and reprints.
- Proven track record of being able to bring a team together through hands-on training, document creation and formal small group learning sessions.
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment.
- Proven ability to lead cross-functional teams, and leading through influence.
- A hands-on, results-oriented approach to business with a ‘can-do’ attitude.
- Detail oriented with strong analytical abilities and problem-solving skills.
- Possess a ‘customer first’ attitude; demonstrate passionate commitment for the customer and product quality.
- Ensure standardization of best practices by working with peers to document, publish, and educate co-workers on system changes, processes/procedures, and Continuous Improvement initiatives.
