Job Summary/Description:
WBKO seeks a MMJ/reporter passionate about storytelling, cultivating sources, and covering breaking news in a fast-paced environment. The role involves shooting, writing, and editing stories for on-air and online daily, turning lead stories, and integrating social media. We seek team players eager to learn and work under tight deadlines, including weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Responsibilities include:
- Meeting deadlines
- Excellent verbal and written skills
- Strong research and critical thinking skills to verify news tips
- Ability to work independently and in teams
- Training to produce content
- Appearing on-air and coordinating live shots
- Potential to fill in as anchor when needed
Qualifications/Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Broadcast Journalism or equivalent
- Ability to work long hours, weekends, and overnights
- Ability to carry 35+ pounds of gear
- Knowledge of AP Style, ENPS, and Edius preferred
- Valid driver’s license and MVR check
