Protestant Music Director – $50.00 per hour, commensurate with experience – Tucson, AZ 85708
The Role
Do you have experience leading contemporary worship music and a strong understanding of different Protestant traditions? Are you confident in playing and directing music while inspiring a congregation through song? If so, we would love to hear from you.
We are looking for a Protestant Music Director to lead the contemporary music ministry for our worship services. You will be responsible for providing musical direction, leading congregational singing, and working with a worship team to enhance the worship experience.
This role requires coordination with the chapel staff to ensure that the music is well-prepared and aligns with the service structure. Services take place every Sunday at 09:00 in Hope Chapel, with additional rehearsals and special events throughout the year.

This is a part-time contract 1099 vacancy. Contract= TBD, 5 Hours per week.

Position is contingent upon contract award.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead all musical aspects of the service, from prelude to postlude.
- Direct and lead a worship team for contemporary Protestant services.
- Play and arrange music on keyboard, piano, or guitar as required.
- Select and prepare worship songs in consultation with the chaplain.
- Organize and lead weekly rehearsals.
- Recruit and support worship team members from the congregation.
- Plan and prepare for special seasonal services, such as Christmas and Easter.
- Ensure all musical materials, such as sheet music and songbooks, are well-maintained.
- Use presentation software to display worship lyrics when needed.
- Arrive at least 30 minutes before each service to review the order of worship.
- Follow copyright regulations for all music used.
The Person
- At least two years’ experience leading a music ministry.
- Ability to play and direct contemporary worship music confidently.
- Strong knowledge of different Protestant worship traditions.
- Proficiency in playing keyboard, piano, or guitar.
- Confident in leading congregational singing.
- Ability to read, arrange, and transpose music as needed.
- Comfortable working with individuals from different denominational backgrounds.
- Strong communication and organizational skills.
- Able to find a suitable substitute when unavailable.
