Minimum Requirements

Applicants who possess the following skills will make the strongest candidates:

1. Valid California Single Subject Teaching Credential in the appropriate content/subject matter.
2. Single Subject: Music
3. CLAD/English Language Learner Authorization (must be obtained within one year if not currently possessed).
4. Demonstrated track record with English language learners.
5. Demonstrated ability to implement varied classroom instructional strategies.
6. Educational vision for and experience with low-income and/or minority students.
7. Passion for working with children and their families.

Camino Nuevo Charter Academy (CNCA) is a community of high-performing public schools that prepares students from preschool through high school for success in college and in life. Founded in 2000, CNCA serves approximately 3,500 students from TK through 12th grade in the MacArthur Park neighborhood of Los Angeles.

The Opportunity

CNCA seeks candidates committed to serving in under-resourced communities. We are looking for teachers who embrace innovative curricular frameworks and are dedicated to ongoing professional development and collaboration. Teachers will perform a full range of duties, including but not limited to:

1. Plan and deliver instruction for assigned music courses.
2. Prepare and implement lesson plans aligned to California Visual and Performing Arts Standards.
3. Regularly assess student progress to refine and differentiate instruction.
4. Develop and execute culminating experiences for students such as recitals and concerts.
5. Foster a positive learning environment for music students.
6. Assist in developing art and music curriculum standards.
7. Create and execute long-term plans and unit plans in collaboration with the central Programs team.
8. Participate in coaching, collaborative meetings, and professional development.
9. Communicate frequently with students, families, colleagues, and stakeholders.
10. Work closely with families to promote personal growth and success.
