The JCC Thurnauer School of Music is New Jersey's largest community music school and has been named a Major Arts Institution by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts.
We invite applications for an experienced early childhood music teacher to teach weekly on Sundays between Sunday, September 24, 2023-Sunday, June 16, 2024.
The Thurnauer School of Music uses the Musikgarten curriculum. You do not need to be a licensed Musikgarten teacher. Teachers are given paid professional development in Musikgarten content and pedagogy to achieve their license over the course of the year. All professional development is online.
Depending on the candidate's background, there are also opportunities to teach voice lessons, or other private music lessons.
We are looking for a teacher to teach the following 40 min classes on Sundays:
A music class for babies/toddlersA music class for 3-4-year-oldsA music class for 5-6-year-oldsA music class for 6-7-year-oldsA music class for children with special needs. All children will have an aid with themA beginning piano group class with four childrenMinimum Qualifications:
The successful candidate should have the following qualifications:
A degree in music education or several years of experience teaching music to young children.Guitar, auto harp, violin, or piano skillsAble to sing in tune and have a pleasant singing voiceSkill with classroom managementA talent for engaging children, lots of enthusiasm!Knowledge of appropriate music and activities for the age group
Salary: $60 per class, based on experience.
