JOB SUMMARY
Our client is seeking a compassionate Hospice Music Therapist to provide professional music therapy to patients in accordance with company protocols. The ideal candidate will have a Bachelor of Music Therapy degree, current Board certification, and relevant experience in geriatric and end-of-life/terminal illness healthcare.
- Provide consistent professional music therapy in accordance with company protocols and accepted certification practices
- Effectively inform and educate our patients, staff, and facility partners about music therapy
- Establish therapy objectives as part of the patient assessment
- Plan, review, and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid in the planning of subsequent sessions
- Take an active role in sessions by playing instruments, singing, and listening
- Encourage patients to take part in the session and support them by responding musically and improvising with music as a reaction to what the client is communicating to give comfort during the last stages of life
- Support the patient's creative development and facilitate positive changes in their behavior and well-being
Requirements
- Bachelor's Degree in Music Therapy
- Current Board certified (MT-BC) credential according to U. S. Certification Board for Music Therapists
- State music therapy licensing where required
- At least six (6) months of work/education experience with geriatric health care
- At least six (6) months of work /education experience with end-of-life/terminal illness health care
