The Hospice Music Therapist is a licensed and credentialed professional responsible for providing music therapy services to patients in hospice care. This role involves utilizing the therapeutic power of music to support patients and their families emotionally, psychologically, and spiritually during the end-of-life process.

What you'll do in this role

• Provide consistent professional music therapy in accordance with company protocols and accepted certification practices

• Effectively inform and educate our patients, staff, and facility partners about music therapy

• Establish therapy objectives as part of the patient assessment

• Plan, review, and assess therapy sessions to monitor effectiveness and to aid in the planning of subsequent sessions

• Take an active role in sessions by playing instruments, singing, and listening

• Encourage patients to take part in the session and support them by responding musically and improvising with music as a reaction to what the client is communicating to give comfort during the last stages of life

• Support the patient's creative development and facilitate positive changes in their behavior and well-being

Qualifications for a Successful Hospice Music Therapist

• Bachelor's degree in Music Therapy or related field with certification from the Certification Board for Music Therapists (MT-BC).

• Bachelor's degree or higher with 3+years of experience in ANY of the following: Geriatric Care, Senior Care, and/or Hospice Care.
