Key Responsibilities
- Promote a positive work environment and collaborate effectively within the care team.
- Respond professionally to requests from patients, staff, and visitors.
- Contribute to department improvement initiatives and staff engagement.
- Utilize music therapy for evaluations, develop care plans, and improve emotional and cognitive well-being.
- Educate staff, patients, and families about music therapy and research.
- Coordinate care and develop personalized programs.
- Ensure documentation is complete and accurate in the electronic medical record system.
- Maintain safety standards and participate in team conferences for discharge planning and treatment updates.
- Manage resources efficiently, document interventions, and enter charges accurately.
- Support innovation and participate in department projects and continuing education.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a relevant field.
- One year experience in medical music therapy or two years in other populations.
- MT-BC certification and BLS certification.
Skills and Abilities
- Competency in job-specific skills with ongoing assessments.
- Proficiency in English for effective communication.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Ability to work independently and in a team.
- Advanced training in neurologic music therapy preferred for rehabilitation roles.
Additional Requirements
- Uniform: Scrubs; No on-call required; Travel within Houston area may be necessary.
