The community you’ll be caring for: AdventHealth Celebration
- Established in 1997, a 357-bed hospital
- Designed as a Mediterranean resort-style facility in Disney’s planned community of Celebration, Florida
- Delivers a state-of-the-art healing environment to residents of Osceola, Orange, Polk, and Lake Counties, as well as visitors from across the U.S. and the world. Incorporates research-driven clinical solutions that integrate mind, body, and spirit in the fight against illness and disease.
The role you’ll contribute: This position is part of the Mission and Ministry Department. The therapist works collaboratively with staff to address the holistic needs of patients, families, and staff, using music and music therapy interventions to meet physical, cognitive, social, emotional, and spiritual needs of individuals of all ages. Responsibilities include conducting assessments, administering therapy to preserve and improve abilities for independent function, behavioral management, social skills, symptom management, and activities of daily living through music. Provides services through individual and group sessions, adhering to hospital policies and regulations. Mentors and supervises Music Therapy interns under the Internship Director’s guidance. Complies with all applicable laws and regulations, fosters a culture of trust, belonging, and hope, and participates in outstanding customer service.
The value you’ll bring to the team:
- Acts as a resource, participates in meetings, and provides input on patient, family, and staff needs. Attends rounds, assists in program development, and instructs interns.
- Responsible for mentorship as assigned by the Internship Director.
- Conducts assessments and leads music therapy sessions for pediatric to geriatric patients, adhering to AMTA standards.
- Participates in department meetings, staff in-services, and community presentations, providing education to hospital staff.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Music Therapy
- MT-BC (Music Therapist – Board Certified) by the Certification Board for Music Therapists (CBMT)
Preferred qualifications:
- 1,200 clinical hours of music therapy fieldwork, including an internship in a medical setting
