Otter Valley is seeking an enthusiastic, innovative and collaborative, full-time vocal music teacher to fill a vacancy beginning in the 25-26 school year. The position is configured to focus primarily on choral music from Grades 7-12. The teacher will work with students in a variety of formats, including a general music class, middle and high school choral ensembles, small-group lessons, and music elective courses. Otter Valley has a strong history in the arts, and the arts have seen outstanding administrative and community support. Stipended opportunities above and beyond the normal teacher schedule include voice coaching for our yearly musical and extra honor ensembles. Job Responsibilities All Otter Valley teachers are expected to: implement standards-aligned units of study and engaging lessons use content-specific pedagogical techniques to engage learners use assessment to inform instruction throughout the learning process create positive classroom cultures focused on relationships, inclusive practices, and reciprocal trusts collaborate effectively with colleagues to improve teaching methods and ensure supports are in place for all students Requirements specific to this position include: Support and expand a successful music program Develop strategies for increasing participation in the music program in partnership with the instrumental music teacher and the school administration Develop meaningful relationships and a positive climate with students in the classroom, in the broader music program, and as an advisor to a group of students Facilitate experiences beyond the classroom and school day to engage students in the music program, including supporting students in participating district and regional ensembles Implement lessons and units aligned to the National Core Arts Standards Utilize strong communication and publicity skills to be an advocate for the arts in our community Education, Training and Experience Requirements Must be eligible or possess Vermont State Professional License with appropriate endorsement to teach Music K-12.
