Position Announcement
The UVU Policy Office is seeking a new student intern for its editorial internship.Summary of Responsibilities
Duties include but are not limited to:
proofreadingeditingpolicy researchand other tasks as neededStudents can arrange through their departments to receive internship credit.Minimum Qualifications
Minimum QualificationsMust be a current UVU student.Must have taken or are currently enrolled in English 2050 (advanced editing class) and/or have equivalent experience.Have a working knowledge of how to use the Chicago Manual of Style.Have proofreading and editing experience.Students with prior publication experience and advanced writing and editing skills are encouraged to apply. We have typically hired students from the English and Political Science programs, but encourage qualified students from other disciplines to apply.
Preferred
Familiarity with Microsoft Word and Excel is preferred.The schedule is negotiable. Monday-Friday between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m.Hours a week can vary between 15 to 19 hours. Additional hours may become available as special projects arise.The student's class schedule will be accommodated.PLEASE NOTE: This internship could potentially last more than one school year for the qualified candidate, depending on job performance.Knowledge, Skill, and Abilities
Advanced verbal and written communication skills.Editing and proofreading skills (required for editorial interns).Project management.Research and analysis.Self-motivated and have the ability to work independently.Able to manage time and complete projects within reasonable time frames.Must be comfortable working with people from all levels of management at the University.Punctual and able to maintain a consistent schedule.
