Overview
This position involves advanced professional, technical, and administrative work supporting the GIS needs of the City. The role includes evaluating GIS applications across departments, configuring and maintaining map-centric web applications, web services, and enterprise geodatabases within RDBMS software. Acts as a lead worker. Additional Information:
This classification is part of the bargaining unit represented by Federation of Public Employees and is subject to the Collective Bargaining Agreement. It is in Management Category III, which includes six additional vacation days and a $250/month vehicle allowance. Essential Job Functions
Participate in the administration of the City’s enterprise GIS Install, configure, and maintain server-side GIS software Administer ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online Train and mentor GIS Analysts Recommend improvements to GIS methodologies and procedures Design and implement data schemas for GIS databases and solutions Conduct studies to identify and implement GIS and location-based technology uses Lead collaborative efforts to develop map-based solutions, including requirements, project planning, and timeline management Design and implement interactive map-based solutions using web technologies Implement configurable Esri applications and templates Create and update Esri web services Support data science and analytics needs related to geographic data Create scripts and tools to automate workflows Update GIS database data Provide ongoing GIS software and data support to users Conduct formal and informal GIS training Provide after-hours support as needed Stay updated on GIS and related technological developments Perform related duties as required Job Requirements and Preferences
Minimum Requirements:
Bachelor's Degree in computer science, geography, engineering, mathematics, or related field. At least three years of GIS experience, including administering ESRI's ArcGIS software. Additional experience or coursework may substitute for formal education. Valid Florida driver’s license within 30 days. On-call availability for nights, weekends, and holidays. Veteran's preference requires attaching relevant forms. Special Requirements:
Security-sensitive position requiring a thorough background check. Ability to work during emergencies and flexible shifts. Physical Standards:
Light physical demands, exerting up to 20 lbs. occasionally and 10 lbs. frequently. Application Process & Benefits
