Overview
Radio Free Asia (RFA) is a private, Washington, DC-based, nonprofit corporation that provides accurate and timely news and information to Asian countries whose governments prohibit access to a free press. We are seeking a creative, highly skilled specialist in search-engine optimization and AI content optimization.
As part of the audience engagement team, you will develop and implement strategies that enhance the visibility and performance of content across search engines and AI platforms. You will evaluate RFA's existing editorial and technical SEO, optimizing website content, and improving SEO to ensure high search-engine rankings. You will also evaluate the relationship between RFA content and emerging AI-driven platforms, such as voice-search assistants and chatbots, and provide recommendations on strategies to increase RFA's measurable reach.
This is a 12-month assignment position, with the possibility of transition into a full-time permanent role after the term ends.
Responsibilities
Evaluate existing search-engine indexing and make recommendations for improvementConduct comprehensive keyword research to provide content-strategy recommendationsImprove technical SEO aspects, such as site architecture, page speed, and mobile optimizationCollaborate with the newsroom through regular communications and trainings to ensure SEO best practices are integrated into content productionCreate recommendations for mitigating any loss in traffic as search engines shift toward AI-summarized resultsStructure content for easy indexing and retrieval by search and AI algorithmsIdentify new opportunities to leverage AI for enhanced user engagement and content strategyDevelop and maintain documentation for SEO and AI content optimization processes and best practicesAdvocate for our audiences and ensure their needs are considered in strategic decision-making and content creationStay informed about industry developments, audience preferences, and digital media trends to provide recommendations and insights to the editorial and management teamsQualifications
Minimum of 3 years experience in SEO and content optimization with a strong understanding of search-engine algorithms and ranking factorsExperience with technical SEO, including site architecture, mobile responsiveness, and page-speed optimizationProficiency with SEO tools such as Google Analytics and Google Search ConsoleFamiliarity with AI platforms and technologies, such as voice-search assistants and chatbotsAbility to conduct keyword research and analyze large data setsKnowledge of HTML, CSS, and JavaScript as they relate to SEOExperience staying updated on the latest trends in SEO and AI technologyVery strong written and verbal communication skills; experience bringing clarity to insights for stakeholders of all seniority levelsAbility to collaborate across departments in a multilingual newsroom and with teams across multiple time zones

Salary: $45-$60/Hour. Expected to work 40 Hours/Week.
