Overview
The Pipeline Mapping Designer (contractor) is responsible for the development of mapping quality deliverables and resources. This position reports directly to the Energy Utilities division. He or she works with project managers and subject matter experts to support mapping, GIS/survey deliverables, Quality Control, and collaborates with other designers to ensure quality of deliverables. Additionally, this individual would support and develop strategies for the training, development and improvements of the resources and processes.
Duties/Responsibilities:
- Performs mapping related projects with the completion of alignment sheets, routing sheets, exhibits and/or permit plats and exhibit A/B drawings.
- Utility BlueSky Mapping Software, Civil 3D or GIS and incorporate client standards where applicable.
- Employ mapping development strategies that aim to outline the road map for elevating drafters through designers and beyond.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure that templates, libraries and tools are developed for individual clients and in compliance with each client’s standards.
- Work collaboratively within the Energy Utilities division to address the continuous process of mapping and survey standards.
- Work with stakeholders develop Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s) to measure and track metrics for mapping, resource performance and alignment to budget, schedule and overall performance goals.
- Work collaboratively within the Energy Utilities division to outline specific performance outcomes/goals for his or her position.
- Work collaboratively within the Energy Utilities division to outline specific performance outcomes/goals for mapping designers.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:

- Comprehensive or proficient knowledge of various design platforms including but not limited to: BlueSky Skyline/Lightning, SEED file Database, AutoCad (Civil 3D), ArcGIS Pro, and Trimble Business Center.
- Up-to-date with the latest trends and best practices in mapping design, survey drafting tools and processes.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
Education and Experience:
Minimum 3 years in pipeline design/engineering, utility, or midstream workstreams.
BA or BS from 4-year University in an applicable field or equivalent work experience.
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer. Must be able to lift 15 pounds at times.
